  1. Hey JMo,

Thanks for this report. It’s by far one of the best reports that I’ve read in a long time.

I appreciate you sharing parts of yourself in there and the straight forward approach to becoming successful.

Your Private Detective Secrets are awesome and can turn any of us into a successful online marketer. TOO COOL!

Thanks again and wishing you success,

    Corey

P.S. One of my fav parts was the exercise your teacher gave you. I’ve been having some really good success with it, when I remember to do it. 🙂

  2. Hey J!
Looks great!! And the content is of course a breath of fresh air, but what else would we expect from you, Mr. Tell It Like It Is. Awesome.

p.s. so excited to be learning from you over this next year and can’t wait to see how I can build a *real* online portion of my biz!

    Keep rockin!
    KT

  3. @ Phil ~ Right on pal.

@ P-Town magician ~ I kind of miss hustling the old magic tricks in downtown Portland. Can’t wait to hit Hawthorne area again next month and see all the old friends.

@ Buddy ~ Glad to have you on my side Buddy!

@ Kristin ~ Yes, it is gonna be groovy. Look forward to meeting you in person in a couple weeks.

  4. Truly an honest read! WIthout sounding less masculine than a 7 year old girl, it touched me. Thanks for the great piece of writing!!

  5. Hi Jason

Thats a great read. Fresh, honest, and true. Thanks. You’re on a mission! (?) Cant believe how long ago it is that I actually got access to your stuff…so long ago..I saw many shiny new objects come my way since then…so you just reminded me again about the copywriting stuff you have…anyway…the newbie marketer’s curse…too many shiny objects to choose from.

I can understand the watching your thoughts thing being beneficial (its actually much more common nowadays in clinical psychology practice – my ol ‘profession 😉 ) and it takes away anxieties and the need to even worry about anything. Also, your story about the bar-adventures…I can only imagine this is sooo true. But at any level though, where there is a perceived power difference between the wannabes and gurus. If they could only be “themselves”, let the hidden agenda go, and have a good, unique, time…Hard to do as i know myself. Im sure I ws guilty and trying to “be friendly” with people in my life, only later to discover it wasnt just a waste of time, I let myself down and they werent even all that nice anyway.

But marketing seems such a double-edged sword. Manipulation is necessary, yet somehow still with respect and integrity…I myself am not sure where to go next. While I’m stressing like crazy about money right now and hoping that the various affiliate promotions I do help me out, I know that a lot of the time its not because I’m all that desperate to market that product. I really do need the cash now etc. Mad isnt it? But the truth, for many! Perhaps for that 95%. Its hard to be truthful under that kind of pressure.

I think you made me realise this once more and I’m already thinking about what my true goals should be. Delivering value and help is totally what I’ve always been about, so…find an ethical system that helps me out financially, then go fulfil my destiny!

Thanks again mate. Refreshing. (and who should I avoid in IM world, other than myself? 😉 )

    Jan

  6. Good read my friend, I always appreciate the “non markeing” kinda stuff you give out its totally REAL and I like that.

    peace

  7. Yo Jason

That was by far this was the greatest report I have ever read! I usually skim reports in under 2 minutes, but in this I case I took my time and read every word.

I really appreciate you making it very direct without the fluff. For anyone that hasn’t read Eckhart Tolle’s ‘Power of Now’, it’s a remarkable book but pretty repetitive. Jason has conveyed the general message of it in just a few pages!

    Looking forward to November 17…

PS: Got up to 18 (or was that 17?) breaths in the exercise

  8. Now I see why you call it Truth Serum Jason…

Really powerful and valuable information~thank you so much!

Good luck with your upcoming launch and planning for your big travel adventure! D~

  9. Hey Jason, Thanks for releasing this report.

You touch on some really important points. Especially the overriding message to always be fair, honest, and appreciative when it comes to your customers. Seems like this should be obvious, but unfortunately happens less than it should.

As marketers there’s always pressure to make the sale, however as you point out the lifetime value of a customer is much more than just that first sale.

If a customer is happy with their dealings with you, then they’ll come back to you again and again. However, If the customer is turned off from that initial purchase (bad product, poor support, etc. etc.) then that customer is lost because they’ll go somewhere else.It really works in the best interest of everyone to always keep the customer in mind.

Important stuff for people to keep in mind. Thanks for sharing this info with us.

    (From Jason)…

    Hey Dan,

It’s quite shocking how the obvious stuff seems so hard for others to understand. I don’t get it. But then again, I don’t try to hammer nails in with my first either. I use simply use the hammer.

  10. Thanks, Jason!

You just revealed how I try to get information out of people — without even trying! Dang! LOL

I enjoyed the book. I think alot of marketers needed to hear what you said about how to approach stronger marketers for JV deals.

There are two key words that stuck out like a sore thumb in your report. I feel like alot of marketers have forgotten that it’s those two words that can make their business survive for the long haul.

The book had a laid back apporach, but it was also very stragiht forward. Can’t wait to see what else you have in store.

    (From Jason)…

    Thanks Shanika.

It’s amazing the amount of info you can get in a pleasant setting and a little liquid.

  11. Just read your report, Jason. Loved it! Especially how you laid out multiple takes on the meaning of “truth” and “truth serum.”

Having heard the name of the report a few days before reading it, I naturally conjured up ideas in my mind about the topics you’d cover.

Not for a single minute did I think you would write about alcohol being used as a serum for truth, even though I witnessed this myself many times in the past, having shared quite a few drinks with some of the world’s top marketers (aka “gurus).

Knowing a little bit about your history and your penchant for ice cold brewskies in the AM (while giving a memorable presentation at a top-notch seminar, no less), I should have guessed as much. Actually, I just plain should have known. But, hey… human being here, with product creation and technical challenges on the brain at the moment. 😉

Anyway, that’s not the real meat of the report. You put that on page 10 & 11, in my opinion. And of course, page 14. Plus the technique you describe for being able to mindlessly meditate is a keeper!

Thanks for sharing your experiences, your insight, and your truth!

    More Power to You!

    Kathleen

P.S. Was going to mention in an email a few typos I came across in the report… until I got to page 17. Don’t want to be labeled as one of “them.” 😉

  12. Hey Jason, awesome report; it really makes you think about things in a different way.
I’m always impressed when you reveal your tactics that you go that one step further than everybody else… where one person would normally stop and move on to the next thing, you’re digging even deeper to get the results.
Love it! More of us should follow your example.

    All the best,

    Tony.

    (From Jason)…

Thx bro. I try my hardest. 🙂

  13. dam good report I’ve been getting emails for about a year you don’t know who to listen to and who to believe anymore I may have to start therapy.

    (From Jason)…

I know a great therapist. She’s a bit too cute though. Distracting. Be careful
who you listen too but always remember Rock N Roll Ain’t Noise Pollution.

You can always listen to this…

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9LJiwk7QyHI

  14. This report is by all standards awesome. It came at the perfect time in our biz, as we are evaluating who succeeds and who fails, and the BIGGER ? why.

If we could figure out the why… hopefully we can help more people

This report by all standards needs to be read by all online marketers. Would you mind sharing your link on my blog, as well as to my list.

Next question …is this only going to be a limited time report.

    Thanks again

    Megan

    (From Jason)…

Megan, this report will be available on a long term basis. As for “why” people fail, that is the exact topic we cover in my module called “The It Factor”. We can equip a marketer with every tool necessary on his computer and desktop but the majority are still going to fail. This bothered me for a long time, so I’ve decided to do something about it, and I know I have the answer that is going to help out a ton of people next week.

  15. Thanks for the TRUTH report Jason. You hit a pet peeve of mine right on! I love marketing on line – all except for the hype. Trying to sell stuff that makes no sense to someone who doesn’t need it. I appreciate your honesty and your desire to start a meaningful conversation. Writing authentically and presenting things with heart – the true intention of helping their clients out – are the things that attract me to and keep me following folks – I look forward to hearing more from you.

    (From Jason)…

Thanks for the kind words Terry. Personally I love hype, but it has to be justified hype. Think of Flavor Flav for Public Enemy. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=s3ttBxx0TeY His hype for PE was awesome. And if I enjoy a product and want all my friends to see it, I’m going to hype the hell out of it.

However, I do understand what you are saying and you are not alone. It’s not so much the hype I think, but the god awful unbelievable hype that is just pure BS. Stay sharp!

  16. Jason great report, I have studied some of this before, and I can say reading your version has revived my interest in the higher life, thanks
    Jay W.

    ( From Jason )…

To thumbs up for the “High Life”…. or higher life!

  17. I just don’t know about the “mindless meditation” stuff. It seems like there are already millions of mindless Americans. Makes it easier for Caesar to divide and conquer. Think I could make money by re-packaging the Declaration of Independence and selling it to millions who have never read it before?

    (From Jason)…

I reckon if you got a testimonial from Glenn Beck you could probably sucker a decent amount of old midwest grandpas into buying. People bought my Twitter posts in book form ( https://jasonmoffatt.com/twitterfortheshitter ) so who knows.

  18. I just read the Truth Serum Report and I wanted to say thank you for such a report. The Good Book says when you know the truth the Truth will set you free.Well in this case I hope that it will help us to become better people.Thank you so much for the report.
    Life is outstanding!

    Roysdean.

    (From Jason)…

    Hallelujah brother!

  19. Jason,

I really enjoyed what you wrote.

It makes me reflect on my years of customer service. Remembering that the Customer is the one who is ultimately signing your paycheck.

    Looking forward to more …

    Steve

    (From Jason)…

There’s a lot of people that subscribe to the thinking that customers suck. I don’t really get it and I reckon if that is your thinking then you are bound to create that atmosphere around you. On the other hand, I actually enjoy reading my emails and meeting my customers because it’s usually a great time!

  20. Loved the Truth Serum Report. It’s easy to read and inspiring as well.
Thanks for your generosity is offering this.

    (From Jason)…

Thanks. Easy is what I always try to go for (if possible). Cheers.

  21. Not sure what to say Mo.You tell it like it is,and we all better watch
what we say and do online to make money.

Helping others by being truthful is what’s at stake here.

    Much peace to all

    (From Jason)…

The joy from helping others seems to always have more meaning and value then money. You can only get so high from making a bunch of money. It fails in comparison to the high of helping others and seeing them smile. 🙂

  22. word!

look forward to gettin into this – saw you on the MC1 dvd, I am in the Hippy Crack industry and would like to do some stuff with you down the line!!

    (From Jason)…

Crack and “line” in the same sentence. Lets just make sure to keep it hippy 🙂

  23. Many truths in this rapport, The major problem in this industry is the lack of honour and respect towards the customers. Marketers abusing their lists promoting one affiliate offer after the next. which time and time again drain the costumers wallets and takes their focus to the next shiny product that promises them the world. MORE TRUTHFUL MARKETERS, PLEASE! 🙂

    (From Jason)…

    Anders,

I hear ya man. You have to be careful who you promote or your list will see right through you like a window. Some guys really don’t care though. Their motto is “Churn and Burn” or “Hit it and Quit It”. I just came up with another one… “Mail and Bail”. I like that one the best.

  24. I loved your report. Thank-You for your words of Wisdom.

    Peace Cyn

    (From Jason)…

    Thanks Cynthia. Much appreciated. 🙂

  25. Thanks, Jason!!
This could not have been expressed any better…by anyone!
    Again, I Thank YOU!!

    (From Jason)…

You’re welcome. Thx for stopping by.

  26. Report has some Truth Being that Most all Wealthy Marketers are UnGodly and Doesnt Know Christ and would fall into all different Temptations. I Would love to see some God Fearing Man be successfull in Online Marketing and Help Sponser Missionarys and Help Feed Starving Children Maybe Online Marketers that Make a Boat Load Dont really have much of a Global Perspective or care about the Poor and the Needy. Heck with the Yacht Give Me a Huge Treasure in Heaven that will Last for Eternity!
    Have a Wonderful Day Jason

    Randy

    (From Jason)…

Hey Randy, I know the yachts, mansions, cars and hot babes tend to dominate the advertising space, but please don’t think that a lot of us marketers aren’t giving back in one way or another. Sometimes we tells others about it, and other times it’s kind of on the lay low. But believe me when I say I’ve personally witnessed myself and buddies give well over a million dollars to multiple honorable charities doing just the things you mentioned. I think Kern just gave away about $38,000 yesterday to the Angela Shelton Foundation. And Google “Just Like Your Child”. That’s another group we work closely with to give back in some way.

But I hear ya man. Just be careful you don’t lump everyone into that kind of thinking because their are some great people out there doing fantastic things for others.

  27. Hey Jason,The Truth will set you free, meaningfully, morally and make money, awesome report; you lay it out in a informing, inspiring and entertaining way. B Bop

    (From Jason)…

Thx Thom. Means alot coming from you.

  28. Jason, thanks…the truth is the Interent is technology driven. You gotta have real applications with the know how, and be able to quickly apply it accurately…you gotta know how to test and track, use tools and understand how it all works. Your knowledge gap is also much harder to leverage because everyone knows the same stuff, so if you are NOT tech savvy, a leader or legit expert in some area or field you have zero advantage over other marketers.

    (From Jason)…

I gotta disagree with you a bit here. Of course all the things you mention are helpful, but I barely do any of those things. I don’t know crap about technology. Truth is, I don’t even know how to create a WordPress blog.

And guess what? It doesn’t really make a difference. I tend to think the internet is way more “Personality” based. Match a lovable character with Flip camera against the smartest tech geek you can find and I’m laying my money on the likable person shooting the video. I suck at tracking, testing, or anything like that. I’m a artist, not a techie. I think the talent and success is within you, not in some plastic box.

  29. Good stuff JMo. Thanks for doing the report, and really, thanks for all you do in Marketing. You make it fun and worthwhile in what you do.

I got bad news though…as much as I like the report and even more love the quote about beer. Franklin never said it…

    http://www.beerinfood.com/Franklin.html

Leave it to me to be a d*ck…RB ~:-)

    (From Jason)…

Yeah I read that quote was debatable. Maybe he was just pissed drunk one night and said it. Either way, he sounds way more manly when credited with this quote.

  30. Mmmmm Very Interesting. And true in as much that true is as subjective as liking Jelly or not.

Meditation works for around 20% of people.

Repetition only works if the emotion is firmly attached and the emotion is desirable.

I like the the way you place yourself in the inner circle of 5% that are making money – the truth I’d guess is closer to 2%

Personally I found the look of your report to be great until it became three columns then you turned me into a skimmer.

I caught you saying the product doesn’t matter, yet all the Gurus tell us it is?

I also still have no idea why you bothered to write it but very good otherwise.

Well you did ask for feedback.

As a hypnotist my latest product is coming out soon and as a producer rather than a pure marketer I can see what you guys do and my word you could do it better. 😉

    However I like your style.

    (From Jason)…

Hey Jonathan, thanks for stopping by and sharing your opinions. They are very helpful.

It took me 5 years to even truly understand what meditation was. It was tough to let the ego get out of the way.

You may be correct about 2% being more accurate then 5. I wish we knew the answer.

You are the 2nd person to mention the 3 columns being distracting to reading. Thank you for this. I’ve noted it for the next report I write and most likely will not being doing 3 columns because it does lose readers. So double thanks for bickering about this.

Guru’s will tell you all kinds of shit to part with your money. First of all, I’m not saying the product doesn’t matter. It totally does. But, it’s a after the fact kind of thing. The problem most people have is not creating quality products, it’s actually selling them. So my theory is that you only participate in creating super quality products. This is a presumption with anyone I work with. When it comes to selling though, you don’t want to sell the product and it’s features. You want to sell the story, and future pace the end result through entertaining tales and therapeutic metaphors. You’re a hypnotist, you know what I’m talking about. Maybe I should of been more clear. I’ll need to go reread.

And finally, I decided to write it because I’m about to sell some stuff! How’s that for “TRUTH”?

Cheers, I really do appreciate the feedback.

  31. Thanks JMo,
Just reading through the comments here I am stoked to read this thing. Some are saying controversial. I like the truth that’s the way i roll and expect all people around me to do the same. Been mislead for to many years. By people that are doing the something they were 8-9 years ago, and getting no where.

Have a great trip, missed you the last time you were in Las Vegas.
    Brad West ~ onomoney

    (From Jason)…

Hope you like. And I have a really weird hunch that I may be back in Vegas sometime in the next year 🙂

  32. Jason…

    This rocks. 🙂

When I watched your video I was
thinking “Oh no… not another freakin’
report.” But now I’m glad I downloaded it.

    I don’t know what to say… but I’m
    impressed man. Thanx.

    (From Jason)…

Haha, I’m the same way about reports. Tell me about a report and I’m already yawning. I’m glad this one didn’t get lumped into “another one of those reports” pile. Cheers.

  33. Right On,JMo
The fakers and bullshitters hurt all of us who want to be straight-up. Most non-marketers I speak to believe all this stuff is a scam. They are our fooking customers!

I’ve been tempted to push some high yield BS, but in the final analysis, I need to stick to the Golden Rule.

I have bought some crap and it is not so much the money as the violation of trust.

    Good Stuff-Thanks

    Brett

    (From Jason)…

I feel ya Brett. Inside my members area I have a video that talks about if you want to make a ton of cash online, it’s much easier to promote high ticket items. So, we provide a huge list of high ticket items to sell in there. Of course, I can’t vouch for all of em. I expect the affiliate to do their own due diligence but we all know that many of those programs probably have many shady elements about them. It would be nice if there was a way to rate them all without having to read through all the rubbish.

  34. Thanks Jason, Just downloaded and read your report. I appreciate your straight forward approach and your candor (not sure what candor means exactly but it seems to fit here).

I couldn’t agree more with what you said about the power of good copy. In the wrong hands it can be dangerous. Thankfully, most people don’t reach the level of skill required to be really lethal. I’m talking about the kind of lethal where they could do some serious damage if they wanted to. Like leading people far far astray. Not that many don’t try. I spent a few years wandering down the path of confusion laid out by marketing manipulators and pretend experts myself.

You mentioned click bank as a place where some of these shady characters hang out. Yes, click bank is a bit of a cesspool. But even there, I think most people can see through the hype and miss information if they want to. Question is: “do they want to?” Pity about the bogus claims in many of those pitches though, ‘would hate click bank to get a bad name as it’s a useful tool for marketing on the web.

Anyway, obviously your report is good. I was distracted by the three column format. Two worked well though.

I like the fact that you talked about marketing “gurus” outside your inner circle. Talking about Alice and Lynn lent more credibility to your other claims since I was starting to sense a slight “me-and-my-Internet- buddies-rule the world” theme emerging on the outer rim of my BS detector.

So thanks. Well worth the read.

    Mike

    (From Jason)…

Yeah I was really lucky to run into Alice and Lynn early in my marketing career. It’s not always a guru circle jerk in my world.

  35. Your just adorable. Truth and honesty. You Rock! Thanks so much for the very enlightening report. Can’t wait for your next one.

    (From Jason)…

Wanna take me out on a date?

  36. The truth is that there is no truth. ( Am completely lost in your report.)
I was a private investigator in the seventies. Only in a Court was the truth told. I fail to see what it has to do with marketing. Sorry.

    (From Jason)…

It’s all lies. Unless of course you’re in court. Surely there isn’t any liars (lawyers) in there.

  37. Jason,
I enjoyed reading a “no pitch” newsletter… and the content was great too. I found your site by watching you online,… drink beer on stage at a Mass Control meeting. I was wayy fun and informative too. I’ve probably watched it 5-6 times! Looking forward to learning more from you.
    My best,
    John C.

    (From Jason)…

Don’t let your Louisville Slugger down too fast, I’ll be hucking a fastball soon enough. Thanks for the kind words.

  38. Jason
The truth is everything. My customers deserve the best and I strive to deliver it.
As for the meditating, you will not need to count after you master it. I learned that at the South Fork of the Boise near Pine 30 years ago.

    Clyde

    (From Jason)…

Can’t wait to get back to Boise. It’s actually going to be the first stop on the RV tour after the first of the year. I’m going to wrestle Russell Brunson for the title belt.

  39. Liked the “don’t buy that” insight. Helping customers have more success … yes, that’s the ticket.

Uh, your use of a possessive apostrophe in “grammar Nazi’s” is a grammar error. (I couldn’t resist!)

And forgive me for being contentious, but Osho is clueless. It is only the man who is both a believer and a non-believer who becomes the very name of truth.

And the Russian Proverb? (“When money speaks, the truth is silent”) Nyet! Money speaks the truth every day in the stock market, both in its presence and in its absence. It’s all about the “wall of worry.” If the market is climbing anything other than this, then it likely is on the verge of collapse.

    (From Jason)…

Ah the stock market. There’s a place I’d like to spend my life. Loaded with so many trustworthy folks. (Madoff cough cough).
