Somewhere Between Ignoring AI and Sounding Like Everyone Else

I’ve been going back and forth on AI for a while now.

Part of me wants to just say screw it and ignore the whole thing. I don’t say that because it’s useless as it’s obviously not. It’s clearly helping a lot of people, but man… you can feel what it’s doing when everything is starting to sound the same.

You read a post and you already know how the next sentence is going to go. It’s got the same rhythm, the same safe wording, and the same “this sounds smart but doesn’t really say anything” vibe.

And if you actually care about having a real voice… it’s kind of painful to watch. I know many of you know what I’m talking about. I’ve definitely had moments where I thought, “Yeah, I’m just not playing this game.” But that’s not really how this works. This tech isn’t going anywhere and pretending it is would be dumb.

So instead of fighting it, I started looking at where this actually goes. The way I see it, right now you’ve got two camps. You’ve got people going all in on AI and slowly turning into brainless clones… and then you’ve got people refusing to touch it at all and falling behind. Neither one feels right. Maybe the most interesting spot of all is right in the middle?

About 10 years ago I wrote a book called The Art of Authenticity. This was back before everyone and their mother butchered the word authenticity and hardly anyone was talking about that stuff. Now it’s everywhere, but most of it feels like people repeating what they think authenticity is supposed to sound like. Now throw AI into that mix and it gets even messier.

So I realized there’s a real need for a next version of this conversation and not just “be yourself” generic talk. I’m talking about something practical that helps people use this stuff without losing what makes them them. Because that’s the part people are missing.

AI is easy to use. Keeping your voice while you use it, that’s the skill and special sauce.

I’ve been working on what this looks like and how to actually teach it in a way that doesn’t turn into more of the same recycled noise and I think I’ve got something pretty damn solid.

I’m curious if that is something y’all would be interested in?
