Arrggg… I missed making a post during the last 2 days.
We were in the process of changing hosts for my blog and it was no easy job considering I’ve been blogging for over 5 years and have well over 5000 files and numerous databases that needed to be transferred.
For some reason my hosting account with Thirdsphere was being terminated and they are shutting down their hosting program. I guess I should be happy because my dumb ass has been paying $50 a month for hosting for way too long. Please don’t even ask why? I’m retarded.
Anyhow, we moved everything to Hostgator and it all seems to have worked flawlessly. If you notice anything funky with the blog please let me know.
And if you need hosting yourself, or want to transfer your site away from some horrendous host (I’ve had a few of those as well) then I highly recommend going with Hostgator. They are cheap, reliable and the 24/7 customer service rocks. I can’t tell you how important it is to have 24 hour customer support that is really there to help out.
So if you need some hosting, click here for Hostgator.
Cheers,
Jason
PS: Another bonus is they use C-Panel which makes it super easy to install WordPress blogs via the Fantastico 1 click blog installer. I’m far from a techie but I remember trying to install a blog a couple years ago via C-Panel and it was relatively easy. I don’t remember how to do it but I’m sure I could figure it out if I were to go log in.

Yeah Dude… Hostgator Rocks!
Not including my dedicated servers I have 3 shared hosting accounts all of them good.
The 3 companies are Hostgator, Bluehost and HostMonster.
I’ve never had an issue with any of them. The nice thing about Hostgator is that you can pay monthly. The other two (which are owned by the same company) make you pay at least a year in advance.

Hey dude, great choice.
I’ve never used HostGator, but I’ve heard great things about them.
I always use MidPhase as they’re incredibly cheap, fast and basically just kick ass. Here’s my blatant affiliate link: http://manage.aff.biz/z/138/CD7561/
You can host a few domains on one hosting account too, which is pretty cool.
I’ve never had any problems with them and would never use anyone else 🙂
Thanks,
– James.
You did well to keep all the files man, during a server move a few years ago we lost a few thousand articles.
Your site seems to be running fine here in the UK.
Hi Jason,
I’ve had a similar experience with Thirdsphere a couple of years back when they upgraded there server they lost all my files and could’nt find it anywhere in their backups. That happened twice.
I also changed to Hostgator and have had no problems with any of my sites and their support are awesome.
Hostgator is a 90% effort giver in a world full of 30% effort givers (other hosts). That’s why I go with them. They’re not perfect but they’re a shitton better than anyone else. =)
I am right up there with Ryan.
I have 6 shared hosting accounts with the same 3 companies, Hostgator, Bluehost and HostMonster. Going on 4 years, never an issue with any of them and the support for all 3 great.
Good having you amongst us,
Abi
P.S. Missed you in Destin
Yeah, HostGator is nothing short of awesome. I’ve been using them for a long time. The price is right, and the support is crazy good. Their live chat support is really cool. If there’s a wait, it’s short, and they always solve my issues really fast.
You made a good choice, Jason.
Hey J.Mo!
I fully support your choice for Hostgator – the stable hosting and the fastest
and most efficient handling of any tech issues, period.
We install and service membership websites and had to deal with different hosting companies our clients were using. And we had to stay with Hostgator because when it comes to hosting complex scripts, other hosts weren’t even willing to fix the issues that needed additional effort/tweaking on their end.
Just wonder what host you had to ditch in favor of Hostgator?:-)
Read the post bro. It’s right there.
Oh yeah:-)
Hostgator is THE best! I’ve been with them for 4 years and their tech support is always just a phone call away any time of the day or night. They’ve been cool and helped me with many issues that weren’t even their issue that lesser hosts would just blow me off by saying: “We can’t do that because its a third party issue…chump.”
Actually, I use seohosting.com which is owned and operated by Hostgator because each of my cblocks can have separate IP Addresses…and I can change those IP Addresses myself too.
I highly recommend HostGator. I used 3 other companies that were nothing but trouble. MidPhase which is neither cheap or easy to do business with and the other 2 are not worth mentioning.
HostGator is the best and cheapest. I have the reseller account and I can set up as many domains as I need. One domain has 200 sub domains and an WP blog, couldn’t do that with the other companies.
Hi Jason,
I was surprised to hear you going with Hostgator. In the past (3-5 years ago) I heard they would shut down your whole account without notice if any of your sites used a bit too many CPU resources. Like when you use a tracking program then run a campaign that goes gangbusters. It was considered very rude and unprofessional for a hosting company to do that without some contact with their customer first to sort things out.
But judging from the comments here so far all looks rosy in 2010. Unless the other guys are low use webmatsers.
So what happens at Hostgator now if you suddenly get a lot of traffic to your sites? They give you leeway or still close accounts?

Awesome news JMO.
I was using HostGator up until about june this year. I outgrew their shared hosting and opted for a dedicated server in the US (in addition to the one we have in Australia).
I have tried so many different hosting companies. And from my experience the best shared hosting company I have come across is hostgator.com The only thing that comes close to them is http://www.KnowHost.com for the VPS’s services.
Goodluck with hostgator they are great.

Mitch

Hey Dude
Yeah HostGator are pretty good.
I’ve got a several individual accounts with them (yes I know I should have a reseller account to put them all under a single admin, but I can’t be arsed).
The other two hosting companies I’d recommend are HostNine (www.hostnine.com) – I’ve got a couple of reseller accounts with them are they’re great.
You can create hosting accounts on servers across the US, the UK, Singapore (random?) and now “in the cloud” for an extra $3/month/account.
The other company that gets my highest recommendation is LiquidWeb.com
I’ve had a VPS II account with then for the last 2 years and their support and technical knowledge is second to none.
HTH someone.
Cheers
Nick 🙂
It seems like every guru on the planet loves and recommends HostGator.
I hate to be the single dissenting voice among all the HostGator lovers, but personally I’ve had w-a-a-ay to many problems with HostGator. Every couple months something goes wrong (at least a half dozen times now).
My other account at Host4Profit, I’ve never had a single problem with in many, many years. (Unfortunately, they don’t have cpanel so I’m not recommending them).
But let me just give you one example… When I list a new website with Host4Profit, the site is live and kicking – 6 hours – same day.
With HostGator, I’m always waiting 2 – 3 days before it’s live on the web.
I will say however, that HostGator always does correct the problems once I point it out to them, but damn, It’s been very annoying experience so far (plus they’re a bit pricey). Just my opinion.
I would say they are OK… But as soon as you have a complicated problem, watch out… Make sure to backup daily with em…
Me personally I’d go with a dedicated or at least a VPS box so some other retard on the same server doesn’t screw up your site…
I had some major mail deliver-ability problems with them as well… Apparently they “forgot” to set up RDNS & senderID so my mail wasn’t being sent to the major email addys…
Hi J,
I have been recommended, and use, Hostmonster. Probably a similar deal to Hostgator in terms of price but I have found their customer service to be outstanding.
Cheers,
