Stoked! I’m all done with the dentist. $7000 later, and a whole bunch of pain has given me a nice set of pearly whites.
Yesterday was my last appointment and I got my permanent crown put on, some cleaning, and periodontal treatment. I can’t tell you how thrilled I am to be done. Below you can see a picture of me hitting the Nitrous Oxide tank…

I tell you what. I wouldn’t mind having one of those Nitrous tanks right next to my bed. Stick on the headphones and you’re off to La La Land. It’s quite a wonderful feeling I must say.
Of course, I don’t need an entire tank. Heck, I guess sucking the Nitrous out of a 6 pack of whip cream would do the same trick. No tank needed. Thanks whip cream. Screw you Cool Whip.
Anyhow, Nitrous is a pretty crazy drug. Last time I was at the dentist I was listening to some Jack Johnson on the iPod and got super emotional during the song… “Gone”. It almost brought me to tears and made my entire body tingle in a erotic way. I wanted to savor that feeling forever. It seriously was one of the top 5 feelings of my life. I was high as a kite.
The song is a really good one. You can hear here below…

I’m sure the Nitrous high helped the enjoyment of the tune, but it’s a great tune regardless. It really made me think how of how the material world just isn’t that important. And when you can let go of that, you start noticing all kinds of beautiful things in this world. Like simplicity.
Here’s the lyrics to Jack Johnson’s song Gone.
Well look at all those fancy clothes
But these could keep us warm
Just like those.
And what about your soul
Is it cold
Is it straight from the mould
And ready to be sold.
And cars and phones and diamond rings
Bling, bling
Those are only removable things
And what about your mind
Does it shine or
Are there things that concern you more
Than your time
Gone going
Gone everything
Gone give a damn
Gone be the birds when they don’t want to sing
Gone people
All awkward with their things
Gone
Look at you out to make a deal
You try to be appealing but you lose your appeal
And what about those shoes you’re in today
They’ll do no good
On the bridges you burnt along the way
You’re willing to sell anything
Gone with your herd
Leave your footprints
And we’ll shame them with our words
Gone people
All careless and consumed
Gone
Gone going
Gone everything
Gone give a damn
Gone be the birds if they don’t want to sing
Gone people
All awkward with their things
Gone

Man i don’t know about you, but I’m incredibly afraid of dentist. Dentist-phobia.
Glad it went ok man, that stuff can get interesting! Try getting hooked up on nitrous when you’re 11…super trippy stuff. *echo, echo, pulsating sounds*
And that has got to be one of my favorite songs by Jack Johnson. I’ve got every single album of his, even live tracks. Btw, have you ever heard of Donavon Frankenreiter?
His style is very similar to Jack’s and they’re close friends. Also signed to his label if I’m not mistaken. Worth a listen for sure, especially “Free” and “Move by Yourself”.
Nice post. I haven’t had nitrous since I was a kid, but they’re going to put me on it next week for a dental appointment. Hadn’t thought of bringing in some music+headphones…I will definitely do that!

P.S. They sell whippits at head shops here. *whistles innocently* 😉
Oh wow, whippits. Never heard of those 🙂 “stares off innocently”
