Can Anyone Beat Contra Without Cheat Codes?

Beat Contra with one guy, Contra Code, NES Contra

My entire life I wondered whether or not it was possible to beat the game Contra on the old Nintendo system?

Of course we’ve all beat it with gaining endless guys by pressing up up down down left right left right b a select start, but can the game be beat with just 3 guys? I’ve always wanted to know.

Well now I have my answer. Yesterday while asking my Facebook friends “What’s the sweetest video game in existence?” … a few answered with Contra.

Then I asked if anyone thought it was possible to beat with just 3 guys? My buddy Gio posted the answer to my question. Here you go. This is old school right here.

So, my question to you is… “What is the best video game of all time”?

Part 1.

Part 2.

  1. I’ve never even heard of Contra…apparently I’m not old enough or something.

I don’t think I could name a specific game that’s I think is the best video game of all time. It depends on a number of factors (including my mood at the time).

Golden Eye for N64 is a classic, though I’m no good at it anymore now that I’m used to having two analog thumbsticks & the controls are a bit weird.

I loved almost all of the Need for Speed games. They’re all good for different reasons though, so I can’t say which one’s the best. But Pro Street was terrible and Carbon was only ok.

The Halo series was great, though it got played too much.

Army of Two was a fun game too, though I didn’t like the second one very much.

I have to say though I loved the Assassin’s Creed games. I played those games for hours & they are one of the few games that I went through after I beat it and replayed it. I also preordered the one that’s coming out in November I think it is and that’s the first game I’ve ever preordered.

The games I like are a lot newer than Contra, but I didn’t get into video games until the Gamecube was considered old, so that might have something to do with it.

I’m going to have to see if I can play Contra sometime – though I doubt I’ll be very good at it.

Oh ya, I also loved Road Rash. I want them to create a version for a newer system because that game was awesome. I think it’s the only video game my dad ever played with us & actually enjoyed.

  2. Doom.

I could name all sorts of other REALLY old school games that sucked up a lot of my time… but Doom was just 8-shades of crazy.

However, I can’t give full credit to Doom, as it was a $9 copy of Wolfenstein hanging in a plastic sleeve in some random store in the mall … that’s what gave me my first taste of “holy crap… it’s DUSK and my eyes are bleeding”.

But seriously though, Doom was a massive massive hit for all the right reasons. The A.I. that had Imps battling whatever those giant pink demos were called… bad guys vs bad guys… I mean that’s just all round good times.

And rockets that could hurt YOU too (if you were standing near the explosion).

In fact, I never could get into Quake … felt as if I were cheating on the Doom series.

And all that aside… I want to also give credit to Street Fighter 2. Having you face off against your buddy, one playing as Ryu, one as Ken and just shooting Hadokens at each other as quickly as your thumbs would allow to see who could fire hadokens quicker and actually hit the opponent .. I mean you just can’t go wrong.

  3. I never played the original Contra the much, but I can beat Super C with just 1 guy. I love that game, I’m gonna have to download that sucker onto my Wii Virtual Console.
