About 45 minutes south of Austin Texas runs a river called Gaudalupe. Locals tell me that the river is flourishing with water right now, which isn’t always the case. Apparently there have been lots of droughts, and not a lot of water to float down the river upon.

If you listen at the very end you can see the girl who flipped over in the last scene screaming for help. Craig and I had to rescue her from the water as she was in major shock and badly banged up on the legs from hitting so many rocks. She was bloody, bruised and freaked out.
Of course my dog Webber swam through the rapids like a maniac! Crazy dog. I was really excited to let him run and play along the river the entire day. He’s a champion and truly a best friend.
I have been there ! We floated in a softside raft canoe looking thing that everybody could get in but wouldnt flip over.
I hope you had a good time Jason. Floating the river is a Texas ritual for the college/young adult crowd. Most of that is contained to the other river down there (Brazos) where there are some things better suited for the young ‘uns.
I have enjoyed many a good time floating down the river with groups of friends from Dallas. There are campsites / RV parks the length of the river so it is a popular summer destination for many people. I’ve also endured a few painful sunburns as well so everyone is encouraged to bring LOTS of it!

I live in New Braunfels and I love the people that come here. I hope the city does not start discouraging visitors with all the new cooler and drinking laws. It is great fun. The Comal is much more family friendly. The Guad. is much more rowdy. Both are great fun! The eating is great also after a long day at the river. Come and have fun!
Nice to hear of a resident encouraging tubers, as you would think from what you read, the NB residents don’t want the crowds in the summer. It really is good family fun, and a “little” regulation is probably ok. The pot smoking drinkers I would rather went to the Guad and leave the Comal to the rest, but then again it is public right of way, and we all need to respect it. Lucky person to live in the greatly appreciated City of New Braunfels.

Can someone recommend the best outfitter to rent tubes from if we are coming from Austin? We want to do a 4 or 5 hour float this weekend. All of us are in good health and ready for a fun day!
It looks like we will have to make a trip down to New Braunfels, TX to check out the Guadalupe River!
