Shaune Clarke Grills Us On Writing With Empathy

Wow,

What and eye-opening call! The first week of Shaune Clarke’s Copywriting Program was much more then I expected….and I expected A LOT.

I’ve come to know Shaune quite well during the last 2 months. However, I had no idea he was this good. His focus on copy was “laser-targeted” and his knowledge was very apparant. Every word that he spoke, flowed like a beautiful river. Saying I was impressed would be a understatement. I was blown away!

I can’t wait for the next lesson…..and the other 8 lessons after that. It really was that good.

Having a great group of students has made the coaching program even better. The mixture of folks participating is diverse, funny, and witty. I’m really happy to embark on this learning process with others. I’m confident we will push each other in a very beneficial way while fulfilling our goals.

This week we practiced writing with “Empathy”. This is something I definitely need to work on. The power behind writing with empathy is so crucial, and Shaune teaches this very well. Teaching comes very naturally to Shaune, and it shows in his class.

The biggest bonus about Shaune’s coaching program has to be the fact that he routinely questions you. When he says “INTERACTIVE”, he means it. Get ready for questions galore when you participate in this group. At first they don’t seem like hard questions, but when you really dig deep, it’s amazing how hard the simplest of things are.

For instance, most of the group seemed to have a hard time analyzing feelings about copy. Most of us were stuck in “thinking” mode, as opposed to letting our emotions do the work for us. As aspiring copywriters many of us are focusing on the actual words on paper and not paying attention to the “FEELING” of those words. Developing the ability to really feel someone’s writing is much tougher then it sounds.

After 2 hours, it was obvious that most of the group had to strip themselves of their opinions and the analytical thought process. If this was to work, we would need to tap into a different part of our psyche. Luckily it seemed that the group was able to overcome some old habits and start seeing the bigger picture of feelings and empathy.

It definitely was a lot of work, and much harder then I had imagined. The program really was thrilling! The last thing I wanted was some simple cookie-cutter class that taught the basics of copy. This is way beyond any some rookie sales letter crap. Shaune is undeniably the real deal and I feel honored to be taking part in his coaching program.

I’m gonna come out of this copywriting program as one LEAN, MEAN, SELLING MACHINE.

  1. Hi Jason

I feel completely exposed in the glare of your enthusiasm.
It burns so brightly it is almost hard to look at the page.

The big reveal of this copywriting course is like a 9/11 hit
to my smug attitude. Yes, you hit it that hard.

But this is good! Why? OK, hold it right there and check this out:

    – I have been spitting out pretty red hot, gnarly copy for
    years … I think

    – Then uh oh, I read Jason’s blog and have this ghastly gnawing
    suspicion it could be better

    – In trepidation I read Shaune’s sales letter, and horrors, can
see that this course could easily make it 100 times more powerful.

Sorry, this sounds a bit rough, just trying to get acros my feeling
about this. It shook me up after reading firstly this page of yours
and then be slam dunked by Shaune’s amazing website.

    Wow!

I wish you every success Jason.

Your strength, love and kindness shines brightly on this website
and in the Ultra forum. May your cup runneth over with the
very best the world has to offer.

I can sense it is all going to happen for you.

    Jonathan

  2. Hey Jason

I have just read my own posting (above). Just to be sure this is
not read the wrong way, it is MY writing that could be better,
    not your blog!!!!

(As you can see, grammar is not my strong suit.)

  3. Hey Jonathan,

No sweat, I knew what you were talking about. And yes, once I read Shaune’s copy it was instantly a SLAM DUNK. He Shoots, He Scores..

I really feel like I have scored a pivotal goal in meeting Shaune. He’s forced me to open my eyes. It might have taken a few years to remove these blockers had I not have run into him sooner.

  4. Hi Jason,

I’ve been taking Shaune program also. Everything you say about his program is true.

He’s a natural at it. Both writing, selling and teaching.

The coaching program has exceeded my expectation in just four weeks.

It’s both the TYPE of copy I want to write, and the APPROACH to finding clients I’ve sought.

Best of luck with your career,

    John

  5. Jason,

Thought your list might be interested in this.

Shaune is doing a free tele-conference coming up this Wednesday on September 10, 2008 8pm EST.

He’s going to help three copywriters craft their own USP (unique selling proposition).

This would essentially be like a “taste” of what his copywriting coaching program would be like.
