On Saturday morning, I broke up with alcohol. I really hope we don’t get back together. Our relationship has been a love/hate one, but I don’t have too many grudges or regrets.

It was fun alcohol. It really was. And I want you to know, we can still be friends. I don’t hate you or anything.

The breakup didn’t come from a hangover. I didn’t do anything stupid last night.

The truth is, I want to feel higher than what alcohol provides. I love a good buzz, but I’m even more fond of a great buzz! And to be blatantly honest, I’m a bit afraid of numbing and damaging the one thing that helps me have leverage in life. My brain.

Luckily I’m not a alcoholic. I like to drink beer, but I’ve never needed to drink. I’m a fun drunk, never violent, and am smart enough to give up the keys to my car when intoxicated. I wish everyone could be that way.

In the end, my deciding factor to split up with alcohol is because I want to experiment with a sober streak combined with a massive intake of superfoods. The smoothie’s I’ve been creating lately make me feel 5 times better than any beer ever does.

My brain functionality is greatly enhanced when I eat and drink well. And it’s not only me. Numerous of my friends are on this superfood kick. Most of us aren’t die hard hippies who only eat salad and nuts. We eat a bit of everything but make sure to incorporate some superfoods to give our bodies a fighting chance.

Anyhow, Saturday morning I was listening to some info from my buddy David Wolfe and it really jolted me to get my ass in gear. David has a keen ability to do this. Every time I listen to his stuff it blows me away and leaves me eager to know more.

However, what’s better than book knowledge or just acquiring the info is actually implementing raw superfoods into your life. You have to experience it to truly know what I’m talking about. Nothing else really cuts the mustard.

So, to get some more information and to see how it’s changed a bunch of our lives, I want you to watch this quick video with David Wolfe and Frank Kern. Simply click the banner below and you can peep this video.

David has truly changed many of our lives. I am super pumped to call him a friend, and a inspiration. Check out his stuff, it’s that good…

  1. Hey Jason, lately i’ve been really thinking about starting to implement superfood smoothies into my diet however I’ve got no idea what I need/what would be a good way to kind of start implementing these into my daily routine.

Can you recommend any good newbie recipes?

  2. Yesterday I went to a potluck.

    Super health freaks there.

I had lentil soup with jasmine rice and salmon.

Then later I snacked on some squash.

I love potlucks, as they really bring out a true sense of
    community.

OooO! And super health cookies! Yummy!

I too, love making those super healthy smoothies.

It was actually Tony Robbins that got me into my health kick.

His whole spiel on alkaline foods really got to me.
I think it was in personal power….

It would be really cool if you can share with us
the ingredients to your super awesome smoothies J Mo!

Healthy living definitely kicks it, in ALL its fab forms.

    Power to ya man!

    Keep it up!

  3. Rock n roll Jason!

Thanks for the David Wolfe link. The other day I had listened to the Len Foley/David Wolfe chat that I clicked to from a link you put on your Facebook wall.

I immediately went out and bought organic lemons so I can begin my day drinking lemon water mixed with some other good stuff to start my day off right.

I had cut caffeine out of my diet a year ago (except when I drink Jack and Coke…I’ve often considered breaking up with Jack and Coke, but I’m not yet there) and I feel way better than I did when I used to drink caffeine regularly.

I was never a coffee guy but I stay up late working on business so Diet Coke was my thing.

    Anyway, very cool!

  4. Great post Jason. And great reason to give up alcohol.

I’m still working my way through David’s whole Longevity Now program. It’s amazing stuff. That guy is super motivating.

I’ve been working on creating a new habit this month..and part of that is starting my day off with a good workout followed by a superfood smoothie. Right now I’m doing wheat grass, acai, blueberries, spirulina, maca root, some brown rice protein powder, flaxseed, and a base of some juice with a bunch of fruits and veges in it (similar to Odawalla). It’s my own variation on the drink that Eben talks about in his Wake Up Productive program. Not the best tasting thing but there’s alot of nutrition packed in there.

And man oh man, when I start the day with that morning routine, I get ALOT more done. It’s the best.

Best of luck with this. I know you’re going to kick some serious ass as a result!

  5. I broke up with coffee just over a week ago and replaced it with green tea packed with freshly cut ginger. My sense of well being has gone through the roof. Wine is next.

  6. you know what kinda chaps my ass. When huge corporations pump out crappy food no one is bashing them for scams and rip-offs. But if one guy is trying to make a living and help people live healthy, he gets beat to sh*! online. I just googled David and saw some people bickering about him.

  7. Indeed! I just watched the documentary “The Beautiful Truth” that illistrates the connection of what we consume and eat to some of the diasterous cancers of the world. Very enlightening and a great spinoff of another documentary, “Food Inc.”.

I’ve been cosuming homemade smoothies made of up superfoods such as blueberries for the last 4-5 months. Absolutely love it!!

Thanks for the insight, Jason. Much appreciated.

    -Ron

P.S.- However, I still enjoy an adult drink from time to time. 🙂

  8. Cleanse, Alkalize, and Nourish! Get all three by consuming one drink and you can
take it with you when you travel, go to the gym or anywhere for a quick boost! In this highly nutritional, organic powdered product, 4 packets are equivalent to one tray of wheatgrass. Another important thing the packets are used upon opening, not like a jar, which each time it is opened oxidizes and loses its nutritional value. This product is cold dried to maintain its live enzymes and nutrients when combined with water.
This is the only wheatgrass powder in the world grown Aeroponically in 100% purified oxygen; soil free, fungus free and pollution free. The roots contain SOD, cancer fighting agents and 13 amino acids not found in the blades
Another plus, by combining the roots with the blades, the taste is not strong and nauseous as juiced wheatgrass. You can drink this straight (in 8 to 12 ounces of water), add to your morning juice or shake and enjoy! Even kids love it!
Try a free sample, simply go to http://www.BestOrganicWheatgrass.com and fill out the form on the home page. Let me know what you think!

  9. Jason, I need to break up with diet Coke!

How long was it after starting the smoothies that you started to feel your energy levels increase? I have been dragging ass lately.

Off to check out the video you linked to above.

  10. my family jumped on the superfood wagon after my daughter, then 2, was diagnosed with ALL Leukemia (that is cancer of the blood i had to look it up after the Dr’s told me she was sick)

my daughter is about to turn 6 and is at the top of her kindergarten class. the side effects of chemo and all the other barbaric drugs she took were supposed to put her at the bottom of her class.

when she started consuming acai her life changed. she hadnt been able to get out of bed before that.

we are mostly vegetarians and eat lots of raw foods.

    Superfood works.

  11. Very impressive move.
Not many people make such deliberate optimized choices in life. They make choices when they have to because their life is totally destroyed. This could go for anything whether it is alcohol or breaking up with someone. But in both cases you have taken the high road for purposes of improving your life or realizing the situation is not ideal and could be better rather than just trying to cope with disaster and making a choice because things have gotten so bad you have no choice which like I said most people do but you didn’t.

Looks like you have somehow conquered the age old battle between what people should do and what they actually do instead. Congrats.

  12. Good deal, J.
I went without alcohol for around ten years a while back. Back with her now in the form of Zinfandel…
Been making my own brand of smoothie for decades now- O.J. Pineapple juice, Spirulina, bee pollen, Proteabolic (whey), a nanner, and I’m all good. It really grosses people out- it is a brilliant green in color, but boy, do it ever make the machine hum!!
    Keep it up.

  13. Hi Jason,

I’m really surprised at your move. Not so long ago I read your piece on how there is truth in alcohol or something to that effect. You know how you find out what a person really is about when they’ve had a few drinks?

That insight may now be removed from you unless you’ll sit a bar with your potential JVs and drink a smoothie.

It seems that a number of internet marketers are now on a detox which will be a good thing if it lasts.

I’ll watch with interest what you’ll break up with next.

    Vance
