renting a home in carlsbad

So me and my girly have been looking to rent a new house for about 3 months. So far, no luck.

Well, we could of easily scored a place by now but both of us are really picky. I want a beach house, and she wants a new suburban cul-de-sac home in a gated community. I want a pool and spa, and she wants upgraded everything (custom tile, granite counters in the kitchen, Viking appliances, etc).

Finding something that fits both of our descriptions and desires isn’t always the easiest. Combine that with the fact I screwed up my credit as a kid and it’s even tougher.

Anyhow, it’s been a long strange trip. We must have looked at about 25 houses so far. None being perfect. Most, far from perfect. A few were almost just right, but we missed out on them.

My lease runs up here in one month, so it’s time to scale up. I need a new office space, video recording room, a audio area for playing music and a billiard room. Yes, I know, I’m sounding like a little spoiled brat. But hey, this is what’s on my list.

So hopefully we’ll find the right home in the coming days.

Just about an hour ago I sent my assistant Ryan to drop off a application for a beautiful 3700 square foot home near Ponto Beach. There is a really good surf break there (campgrounds), and it’s by a lot of my surfing buddies, and accountant!

This home fits most of our desires. It’s new, has georgeous views of the beach and lagoon, is next to hiking trails we can take the dog to, has community pool, basketball courts, tennis, weight room etc. Also it’s in a upscale gated area.

I really got my fingers crossed on this one. Hopefully I’m able to overcome the credit issues and my financials plus references will serve sufficient to get the lease. I dearly hope so.

Wish me luck. Hopefully I’ll be posting some pictures soon.

  1. Jason,

    Sounds awesome. Best of luck!

When you get it (notice I said “when”), you’ll have to publish a ton of pics of your new crib.

On a lagoon…you’ll have to get a couple WaveRunners too!
