Itching To Get On The Road Again

On the road again
Just can’t wait to get on the road again
The life I love is makin’ music with my friends
And I can’t wait to get on the road again
On the road again
Goin’ places that I’ve never been
Seein’ things that I may never see again,
And I can’t wait to get on the road again.

Damn, I love Willie. He’s such a stud. Every time I hear that song I start itching for a road trip. But get this… I’ve never really done much traveling.  Sure, I’ve pinged back and forth along the west coast like a pinball stuck in bumpers, but I’ve never really seen much of the United States, or the world for that matter.

So, for the last few months I’ve been reliving the dream of packing up a motor home and touring the country. I just can’t stop jonesing to go do something. And I’d love to meet up with all my friends on the internet that I’ve met over the years.

However travel of this sort possesses a few problems. Problem number one is this house I live in. I love this place like no other. It’s beautiful, conveniently located on the beach, and more then I ever imagined. Leaving this place will be tough. I don’t want to do it. Yet I’m still itching to screw off and experience new stuff. Stuff like Austin Texas!

Then there’s all these material possessions I’ve accumulated.  Storing everything seems like a huge hassle. Good thing I’m not emotionally attached to most of my physical stuff.

Hardest of all is my girlfriend is not keen on the idea of aimlessly bumming around in a RV. I don’t blame her one bit. It’s just not her thing and I wouldn’t try and force it upon her.

So deep down I have this nagging urge to go do crazy adventurous stuff. But to do so means leaving so much that I’ve worked for. Damn you Willie Nelson song!  Mix in the fact that I change my mind about stuff every three hours and this travel bug is even more confusing.

I love San Diego California. Love my girlfriend and friends here. I have the greatest life of just about anyone I know. So why the hell do I always want more?

Anybody else get restless like this? I can’t be alone.

I want to snowboard in Colorado, see Glacier National Park, go to the Daytona 500, see the new Cowboys Stadium, wrestle a alligator, go back to Wrigley Field, perform magic tricks on the streets of New York, surf the East Side, and on and on and on.

Maybe I can mind melt my girlfriend to love RV-ing.  Or maybe my friends Ron & Tina Lorenz can help me hypnotize her into it. They’ve been RV-ing for some time and love it.

Ah damn you Willie Nelson song

Rambling post, Chicago recap.

Hey ya’ll,

This is gonna be a rambling post. Why? Well because, I’m not even sure what I’m going to really talk about. However, it’s been a while since I posted anything so I figured I ought to say something.

So here goes.

First up, the Chicago Cubs. My lovable losers. So, I headed to Chicago to see the Cubbies in the playoffs and they got their asses kicked like a Vietnamese dude in a Chuck Norris flick. I’m not really into Chuck Norris, but I sure do dig Vietnamese food.

It was a lifelong dream for me to visit Wrigley Field, and despite them losing I still had a great time. During game one, Andy Hussong (John Reese’s affiliate manager) and I snuck down to the VIP seats and managed to hold them down during the whole game. Instead of sitting in the nosebleeds, we had a great view from right alongside 3rd base. Sure wish we would of caught a foul ball.

During the next game, I brought along Ryan Oricco. He’s a subscriber of mine, and Valerie Waters was awesome enough to buy my extra ticket for him. What a gal! Also, she paid for a personal driver for us all night. That was a super bonus. Valerie rules.

I also got to see the White Sox clinch the AL Central and even attended the Bears vs Eagles NFL football game with Tom Beal and Brian Johnson (Rich Schefren’s right hand man). It was a action packed week in Chicago.

Also I was there to attend Eben Pagan’s “Green Room” event. It was chock full of uber-successful marketers and I felt very privileged to be personally invited by Eben. I’ve always been very appreciative of the things Eben teaches and he’s always be extra generous to me. I love how he treats his team and people around him. Exceptionally smart dude in many ways is Eben.

I won’t go into detail about what the Green Room was all about. Basically for me it was a booze-fest and networking event. I managed to accomplish both of those things very well. The business aspect of the Green Room will remain in the Green Room. I did meet some absolutely brilliant people and made connections that will make a ton of loot. I also drank so much beer and Jack and Coke that I decided it’s time for a good ol fashion body cleanse. Here is the cleanse I’m doing along with eliminating all drugs, alcohol, meat, dairy, and processed sugars.

On one special night Joe Polish invited me to a private party at a beautiful skyloft apartment in downtown Chicago. All the successful usual suspects were in attendance. I really dig Joe. He’s always a super cool dude to me, and is always inviting me to groovy gigs. He’s one of my favorite marketers around. I’d post a pic, but somehow I deleted most of my pics from the trip. ARGG.

During another night of partying and getting loose, John Carlton, Stan Dahl, and Brian Johnson and I went out to House Of Blues (Saw some Texas Blues from Pat Green) and Buddy Guy’s joint. It was a great atmosphere at Buddy Guy’s place. Sure glad I hit up that spot.

Hmm, what else? Oh yeah, took a architectual boat cruise along the river and in Lake Michigan. That was pretty groovy. And one of my subscribers Gabe Strom picked me up and took me to some beach spots. I was convinced I could maybe even catch a double over ankle wave or two. And I did find the only surf shop in Chicago too.

Anyhow, I’m sure I could keep posting paragraph after paragraph as I did tons of stuff while in Chicago. It really was a great time and I’m glad I got my ass on a plane to check it out.

Thanks Chicago and thanks Eben and everyone else!
